As the days start getting longer and winter fades into spring, the optimism of the new season is hard to ignore. While spring cleaning tends to get the most attention, it’s also a great time to revamp our home décor. Here are some of the best ways to get that accomplished.
Use Seasonal Green
Grab a vase from your stash and add a few clippings from your yard. If you’re in the Midwest, your next best option is to head to Trader Joes or your local grocery store and pick up some green vase fillers. People usually grab a couple bunches and put them in a vase when they don’t want to spend the money on nicer, larger bouquets. The fillers are usually only $3 or so. And they last!! They’ll also purchase some faux green stems and they get rotated around the house fairly regularly. From the living room coffee table to the family room mantel, they always seem to freshen up the space.
Let the Sunshine In
One of the easiest things you can do to brighten up your home and bring in that fresh spring feeling is to literally let the sunshine in. Replace those heavy curtains with ones made of lighter fabrics or no curtains at all to let as much sun in as possible. While you’re at it don’t forget to roll up those blinds, and throw open your windows and/or doors to take full advantage of the gorgeous spring weather. It will make a world of difference to the feel of your home. Even that piece of furniture you can’t wait to replace won’t look half as bad when you have glorious sunshine streaming in and your home has that wonderful fresh smell from having your windows/doors open.
Spruce Up Your Front Porch
Whether your front porch is large or small, it’s the first part of your home that greets visitors. Why not make it fresh and inviting for spring. Start with a clean slate by sweeping away debris that has accumulated over the winter months. Add a new doormat and some plants and/or flowers to brighten things up and make it even more welcoming.
